The UC San Diego Chancellor’s Awards is an annual ceremony honoring distinguished alumni and donors. For this event, I designed the show look in PowerPoint, designed the entire stage look and feel, and established the print design for wayfinding and other small print materials.

Challenges + Solutions:
The first challenge laid down was the one-up our looks from the previous year and we had about 3ft between the top of the stage and the ceiling. I made four solid concepts, and utilizing Cinema 4D, we were able to address the concerns of the stage size and placements. Also, UCSD had recently gone through a rebrand, however that look did not mesh well with an elegant event. So, using repeating elements and choice color palettes, I created a presentation that would not only look elegant, but blend seamlessly with the video created by UCSD.

  • Honestly, I deliberately pushed pretty hard on some out-there concepts just for the fun of it. I was shocked when that was the concept they picked. Not complaining at all, but just have to wield the wild side carefully, it worked beautifully this time, but I could get stuck with something insane next time! (which may be a personal goal, but that's for the next client to work with)
